THE EPIC FIELD STUDY FINALE
On November 22, I journeyed to the field study site for the final time. When I walked in, I remembered what it was like when it was 70º and sunny.
At least on Nov. 22 it wasn't that bad. A lot of snow had come during the weekend, but, it warmed up enough that the snow began melting. I went there around 1:45 PM, and during my visit, the temperature peaked for the day, at 45 degrees. It stayed above freezing for most of the afternoon, and there was not an ounce of precipitation that day. The wind was 0 MPH, with the occasional gust of 11 MPH. The day length was 9 hours and 28 minutes, so we can see the days are getting shorter since September.
There was snow on the ground, but it was rapidly melting. When I went, the ground was mostly white with snow but there were signs showing melting. For example, the pond was very much iced over, but there was a sheet of water on the top, showing that it is melting.
